Ringmer Swimming Pool is making a long-awaited return

After being closed for several years, this valued community facility we are gearing up to reopen soon

We are bringing swimming opportunities back to the local residents of Ringmer and beyond.

The reopening has been made possible thanks to a collaboration between Lewes District Council, East Sussex County Council, and Wave Active, ensuring the necessary funding and refurbishments were secured to bring the pool back into action. A £100,000 investment has been made to fund essential upgrades, including the replacement of vital pool machinery.

With excitement building as preparations near completion, everything is set for a fresh start.

What to expect at Ringmer Swimming Pool

The pool will offer a welcoming space for both swimmers of all ages and abilities.
Key features include:

    • A full timetable of swimming sessions
    • A 25m x 10m pool with a shallow end at 0.9m and a deep end at 1.8m
    • Accessible changing rooms and a pool hoist for inclusive access
    • A dedicated viewing area with seating for spectators

Community at the heart of the reopening

“This news is hugely welcome. The process has taken longer than we hoped, but Ringmer residents have been incredibly patient and all of them will be delighted that the re-opening of this wonderful community pool is now within touching distance.

  • Johnny Denis, Cabinet Member for Tourism & Leisure at Lewes District Council.

“I am very pleased we have been able to support the reopening of Ringmer pool. It is great news for the local community. People will soon be able to use this much valued local facility again and we look forward to its reopening in the spring.”

  • Cllr Nick Bennett, lead member for resources at East Sussex County Council.

“This is terrific news for community leisure services in the district and a just reward for all those who have worked so hard to breathe new life into a much-loved facility.”

  • Duncan Kerr, CEO of Wave Active

The £100k being invested in Ringmer Swimming Pool by Lewes District Council is just one strand of a £3 million council investment programme in local leisure services.

A lease has been signed that transfers the operation of Ringmer Swimming Pool from East Sussex County Council to Lewes District Council; Wave Active will run the pool on behalf of the district council.
