Equality and Diversity Policy

Wave Active believes that opportunities should be open to all and is committed to providing services which embrace inclusivity, diversity and promote equality of opportunity. Our aim is to ensure that these commitments are embedded in our day-to-day working practices with all our customers and partners.

Wave Active aims to:

1. Provide equality of opportunity to all customers to participate in sport and leisure activities at all levels whether using our services for the first time, or as a member who uses our facilities on a regular basis. We do not discriminate on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marital or civil partner status, pregnancy or maternity, race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation.

2. Develop a culture that enables involvement of all, embedding and promoting the principles of equality and fairness through delivery of inclusive sport and leisure programmes.

3. Create an environment where everyone has an equal opportunity to learn or participate in sport or leisure activities.

4. Provide services in a way that is fair and ensures that no customer is disadvantaged by imposing any unreasonable conditions.

Wave Active will achieve this by:

1. Promoting equality of opportunity and diversity within the communities in which we deliver services.

2. Ensuring our activity programmes reflect the diversity and needs of the communities we serve.

3. Providing value for money activities to ensure equality of opportunity.

4. Implementing concessionary pricing and membership for socio-economic target groups.

5. Creating an environment which is both safe and fun for all ages.

6. Providing where reasonably practicable access to facilities and equipment.

7. Communicating effectively with underrepresented groups using website, social media and promotional materials.

8. Monitoring customer participation and feedback to identify and develop opportunities for continuous improvement.

9. Training all our staff in Equality and Diversity principles.

10. Developing a workforce which reflects our customer base within the diverse communities in which we work.
