What’s happening at Newhaven Health Hub?
Quayside Medical Practice
The former Co-op building at 10 Newhaven Square is being fully refurbished to create a modern new
premises for Quayside Medical Practice. This will include more consultation and clinical rooms,
improved staff facilities, and new waiting and reception areas. A new Changing Places facility will also
be added, with access directly from Newhaven Square.
Chapel Street Surgery
The former Peacocks building at 5 to 8 Newhaven Square will become the new home for Chapel Street
Surgery. Refurbishment across both floors will provide additional clinical space, new reception and
waiting areas, and improved staff facilities.
New Pharmacy
To support increased healthcare provision, a brand-new pharmacy will open in unit 9 Newhaven
Square.
Creative and Co-Working Space
Over 200 square metres of flexible creative and co-working space will be created, accessible from
Chapel Street, opposite the current entrance to Seahaven Swim & Fitness Centre.
Seahaven Swim & Fitness Centre Improvements
Your centre is also being transformed as part of this development. Improvements include:
• A new shared entrance with Quayside Medical Practice
• A modern reception area
• An enlarged, fully refurbished state-of-the-art gym
• Two brand-new studios
• A new link corridor connecting the former Co-op building to the existing centre
• Remodelling of the first floor of the pool building, including new WCs, showers and an
Innerva studio
These improvements will create a vibrant, accessible, and integrated health and fitness space that
enhances your experience and supports the whole community.
The new Health Hub will offer a completely transformed, state-of-the-art gym, two new studios, a refreshed pool environment, and a modern shared entrance with a café. This major regeneration will create a cutting-edge community health and fitness space where leisure and healthcare work side-by-side to support a healthier Newhaven.

Key Dates & Phases
Phase 1 – December 2025
1st–12th December 2025: Seahaven Swim & Fitness Centre fully closed
From Saturday 13th December 2025:
Ground floor facilities (pool and changing rooms) reopen
First floor (gym, toilets, viewing area) remains closed
Phase 2 – Main Construction (expected from Monday 9th March 2026)
The whole building will close to enable the start of the main construction works.
During this period, activities and lessons will continue at alternative Wave Active sites wherever possible.
This date remains subject to final confirmation and may change.
Phase 3 – Summer 2026
The new gym ,studio areas and reception area are planned to open, allowing members to begin using part of the new Health Hub while final works continue.
Phase 4 – Autumn 2026 | Grand Opening
The full facility, including swimming facilities, is scheduled to reopen as the new Newhaven Health Hub.
This will mark the grand opening of the fully redeveloped site, welcoming the community. back to enjoy all areas of the facility together.
What these changes mean for your membership and access
- Your membership remains active, and you will continue to enjoy full use of our facilities across all Wave Active centres.
- You can continue using the same membership tier you currently hold, whether that is MAX, MAX Annual or FLEX.

Please get in touch and we can talk you through the options available.
- Your membership card will continue to work at all other Wave Active sites and Pay-As-You-Go access will still be available across our centres.

with the layout, equipment, pool, classes and parking.

Keeping you active nearby
You won’t miss out on your gym and swim sessions during the closures. Here are nearby alternative
centres:
• Peacehaven Leisure Centre: Recently completed a major refurbishment to provide a
bigger, better, and improved gym experience. Open 6am to 10pm on weekdays and 8am to 6pm on weekends.

Important things to note
• Please plan your visits at an alternative location from 9th March 2026.
• Direct debit and annual memberships will continue as normal, with no changes to
payments.
